A Stroll That Is Good For The Soul

64790_1So often life is hurried and anxious.  When troubles and worries start to overcome us it is time to put on the sneakers, sunglasses and sweater to be off for a stroll.

Do you have a favourite place where you love to take a nice leisurely stroll?  I have a few favourite spots where I can go for a nice relaxing walk and feel serene yet almost entertained by the surroundings.

Very close to where I live is a beautiful Memorial Park with a brand new cement walking path.  There are lovely young trees all along the path and the township has put a few permanent metal exercise facilities for the adventurous to work out if they so choose.  It is always peaceful and very refreshing as well as helping the body slow down the pace of the day.

Another favourite walking path for me is the walk along the Detroit River waterfront from the Windsor side.  The beautiful walking path extends for miles with the Detroit City skyscrapers in full view from across the river.  This is a very popular spot for people riding bicycles, on roller blades or just walking along hand in hand with a special person on a Sunday afternoon.  I always enjoy walking on this path.

The thought is more present now of just how fortunate we all are to live in such a beautiful area where we can walk and enjoy the day.  There are so many places where people don’t have that luxury.

So now I believe it is time for me to put on those sneakers, sunglasses and sweater and get outside for my daily stroll right now while the sun is shining and the birds are singing.  It’s going to be a beautiful day!
